Keynote Address: Building a Sustainable City Through the Application of Innovative Technologies – A Case Study – Masdar City
Tuesday, March 2 8:30 AM - 9:15 AM
Sustainability in design and construction is becoming more a common aspect of capital projects and their life cycles.
This presentation, will discuss the sustainability issues addressed on Masdar City, a carbon neutral city under design and construction from ground up in the United Arab Emirates.
Masdar City, being built on six square kilometres of land near the Abu Dhabi Airport will take advantage of sustainable technologies for; generation of electricity, production of potable water, treatment of waste water, innovative transportation and green biological logistics designed for a neutral carbon footprint and zero waste.
Review of these sustainable approaches will be followed up with discussion on a few of the engineering and design systems used during the design process.

EPC Roundtable
Tuesday, March 2 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
In this era of massive capital project spending, how are EPCs leveraging their technology investments to improve effectiveness of delivery, cost competitiveness, and value added to the owners?
Session 5: Successful Information Technology Implementation
Tuesday, March 2 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM
The session will consider the best practices related to technology innovation and how companies can plan investments in these
unpredictable times. The presentations will consider the array of issues that impact planning, including achieving repeatable
corporate innovation, education and training programs as an ongoing process, and examples of specific implementation
approaches which have consistently achieved objectives.
How information technologies are enhancing safe plant operations and business processes related to safety and compliance will be
detailed. Key plant activities such as management of change (MOC), HazOps studies, and establishing classification
