Call for Papers

SPEAKING OPPORTUNITES - the 2010 Digital Plant Conference has issued an industry-wide call for papers. Prospective authors are invited to submit a 200/300 word abstract(s) for consideration by the Program Committee.

Our Conference themes/tracks are:

  • Business Track
    • Technologies get applied to solve business problems through processes and organizations and these practices remain the most important element in a profitable technology venture. Whether this is related to a project design processes, global collaboration, asset management, or regulatory compliance- the ability to capture and learn about best practices and lessons learned is fundamental to understanding how to move forward. The Digital Plant Business Track focuses on delivering the best in project success stories, lessons learned (by those doing the work), return on investment analyses, and delivering the best of what companies in our industries are doing to maximize the benefits of technology for their mission-critical business processes.
  • Technology Track
    • The number of automation-based tools and solutions for plant design, operations, and maintenance continues to expand. Vendors are delivering systems for data modeling, visualization, collaboration, rules-based design, content management, asset management, and process simulation- to name a few. The Technology Track is focused on presenting and analyzing these systems as well as delivering a comprehensive understanding of how each affects the overall information approach for a company. How do owners and EPC’s achieve interoperability given the plethora of these applications and technologies, and how is the emergence of standards to address interoperability affecting these strategies?
  • PASS (Plant Asset Scanning Summit) Track:
    • Case Studies: Case studies and advanced application examples of in-situ scanning for projects and operational activities. Abstracts should highlight the diversity of areas for which capture has been applied.
    • Plant Scanning Technologies: Briefings on the newest technologies being applied for plant scanning and highlighting combining positional devices for effective data acquisition.

All abstracts should:
  • Identify primary and contributing authors
  • Be 250 to 300 words in length
  • Include lessons learned regarding work processes and implementation (i.e., outline key “take-aways” that can be transferred across multiple disciplines)
  • Summarize the economic benefits
  • Be impartial and objective
  • Indicate which conference track your are desiring to speak within (please note the above description regarding the conference tracks)

Other requests/ considerations:

  • Abstracts authored / co-authored by Owners/Operators or EPCs will receive favorable consideration
  • No sales pitches will be accepted
  • Abstracts involving actual implementations with pros and cons will be viewed favorably
  • Be innovative, but guided by practical and impartial information
  • The decision of the Digital Plant Program Committee is final

**We are still accepting abstracts, but please submit your abstracts ASAP for consideration as the first deadline has passed.**
